Simple, Sensible Management Sells Itself

Advertising cannot give the same bang for your buck that word of mouth endorsement based on personal experience can. Or at least that's been our experience with the Mansis Certification in Employee Performance Management.

This week, Bob drafted a short, new case study for the website, Simple, Sensible Management Sells Itself . The study involves an organization whose managers are voluntarily self-enrolling in the Certification program because they've seen what it is doing for other managers. Are You a CEO Who is Too Busy to Do Your Own Job?

You could have much more time to be the CEO or the General Manager or the President instead of worrying about how to get everyone else doing their jobs if your organization had an effective performance management system that ensured everyone:

  • knew what was expected of them;
  • received sufficient support from their managers to be successful; and
  • was held accountable for his or her performance obligations.

Many organizational leaders limit the potential of their organization by spending too much of their own time and energy resolving other people’s performance problems instead of focusing on using an effective system to manage the organization’s performance.

Human Relations in Management: Necessary But Not Sufficient

Twenty-five years ago, Bob wrote an article on Human Relations in Management that is just as valid today as it was then. It argues that the practice of management has put too much emphasis on interpersonal relationships at work and has drifted away from the fundamental responsibilities of management and leadership — making it clear which work needs to be done and how well it's to be performed.
